NEWS RELEASE: HWFC announces recommendations to strategically address workforce crisis

HONOLULU — The Hawaiʻi Workforce Funders Collaborative (HWFC) today released its inaugural report with recommendations to address Hawaiʻi’s workforce crisis. The report, From Crisis to Opportunity: Building Hawaiʻi’s Workforce Resilience, presents a comprehensive strategy to address critical workforce challenges across the state, dismantle systemic barriers, and secure economic prosperity for generations to come.

“Every challenge our state faces is connected to our state’s workforce. We cannot solve our affordable housing shortage, clean energy transition, or healthcare needs if we don’t have the local workforce to support them,” said Matt Stevens, Executive Director of the Hawaiʻi Workforce Funders Collaborative. “The decisions we make today will determine whether the next generation of workers can find quality jobs that allow them to remain rooted in their communities or be forced to seek opportunities elsewhere.”
